Bread Cutlet

Photobucket

Lately bread has been a rescue for my evening hunger. I believe bread is blessed with a boon to impress its eaters, what ever form it takes. :) I really love bread :)

In my previous post I had said that I reserved the bread corners after cutting our circles and yup!! this is what I made with those corners ;)

A very simple yet delicious and soft cutlets would fill your tummy and treat your tongue :)

Photobucket

Ingredients:

Bread - 4 slices
Curd - 2 tblsp
Onion - 1
Coriander leaves
Chilly powder - for taste
Salt - for taste

Photobucket

Method:

Take the bread in a bowl and crumble it nicely with your hands. Add curd, finely chopped onion, chopped coriander leaves, chilly powder and salt to it and mix well to form a dough. Add just a little more of curd if the dough is too dry. At the same time it should not be too wet either.

Photobucket

Pinch small portions of the dough and make balls. Flatten them with your hand. Place the cutlets on a hot skillet and roast them on both sides until golden brown by adding a tsp of oil.

Serve it hot with tomato ketchup.

This quantity would make around 6 cutlets.

Enjoy making and happy eating :)

Photobucket

Tips:

You don't have to remove the bread corners. They would blend well in the dough.

Do not add water to the dough. It should be thick enough to roll them into balls.

Be creative and try your own shapes :) I made circles, heart, mango shape and oval this time :)

Photobucket

You can also deep fry the cutlets.

Once you make the shapes, you can also dip them in bread crumbs before roasting.

You can also add grated carrots to this cutlet.

Skip the chilly powder when its made for kids :) It would still taste yummy :)

hi Nithi, that's a good use to leftover edges and soaking in curds must have given it a great flavour and softness, loved the mango shape.

ah! thats a nice one to try... a doubt... wont these bread pieces seperate when dipped in oil

Nithya said...

Thanks all.

@Abhi - you need to make them into a dough. You wont even be able to identify that its bread. see the center pic of the small three pic collage. It wont crumble when it is fried. But I personally prefer roasting it on the pan instead of deep frying. It is more healthier.
